Cabinet spokesperson Elliot Spence told a massive gathering of press officials at the Senatorial Auditorium this morning that the Department of Defence had confirmed that the missile originated from Borucistan’s main air force base, Gardinia Air Force Base. He has also confirmed that no one was injured or killed by the blast.
“The Department of Defence has confirmed that the missile was a test missile that originated from inside the Gardinia Air Force Base in Borucistan. We are in contact with the Borucastinian Government to ensure that this kind of incident does not happen again. No one was injured or killed by the blast.”
The missile hit the northern end of Nanganis at 10:41AM yesterday morning, leaving a large hole in the ground and causing mild fires in the surrounding area. It is believed the test was a failure, however, because witnesses say that the missile was spinning out of control moments before it hit. The government and military were both put at DEFCON 3 when the missile impacted and two air force jets were deployed from Edwards Air Force Base, possibly because it was believed that Hindopia was under attack.
The Borucistinian Government has yet to issue a media statement to clarify their position in the incident. This behaviour is not uncommon to the reclusive nation whose government, in 2005, refused to comment for 7 weeks on the death of their long-time President, Elgadar Monrique, who served for 25 years as the nation’s leader. There are no clues as to when a statement will be released.
